Episode 31: Michael Gene Sullivan

SnapSessions! presents Episode 31, featuring an interview with our artist of the show, writer/actor/director Michael Gene Sullivan of the San Francisco Mime Troupe, as well as a satirical analysis of the Texas energy crisis featuring Tex Shitter, the Texan from Exxon, and an article “Jamie Raskin and the House Impeachment Managers Present Their Case”.

Michael Gene Sullivan talks energetically about growing up in a politically engaged family in Los Angeles and in San Francisco, his initial desire to be a History teacher, his early days in theater, his natural move to the political stage of the SF Mime Troupe, and his taking on of the mantle of playwright in residence with the troupe. Along the way Sullivan also gives us insight into many of SFMT’s uniquely classic productions and talks about some of his other plays including his collaboration with Tim Robbins on Orwell’s 1984. All in all, a lively hour with one of the most productive playwrights of our young century.

In addition SnapSessions! Episode 31 includes “Tex Shitter, the Texan from Exxon explaining the Texas freeze” from a satirical and reactionary perspective, as well as a look back at Jamie Raskin and the House Impeachment managers presentation of their case against ex-President Donald Trump.
