Episode 18 – Fog Eater Cafe
SnapSessions! presents Episode 18, featuring an interview with the founders of Mendocino’s popular new vegetarian restaurant, The Fog Eater Café–Haley Samas Berry, Erica Schneider and Nathan Maxwell Cann, as well as a feature on mythical Baby Standup comic–”Schecky Infante”, and an article on “Drawdown” technologies to eliminate carbon and fossil fuels from our future.
We interviewed Samas-Berry, Schneider and Cann three times over the course of a month in the summer of 2019 as they were preparing to open their restaurant and then follow up a few weeks after the opening. In the middle is a visit to the brand new Fog Eater Café as our party of four dined there on opening night in early June 2019. Haley, Erica, and Nathan review the origins of the dream, the struggle to remodel the building and gain permits, and then re-assess their initial thoughts. We learn how restauranteurs turn their aspirations into realities, and how a vegetarian restaurant with panaché can flourish and build a following. Episode 18 also includes a short “performance by mythical Baby standup Shecky Infanté at the “Boom Boom Room” as well as a review and fast-paced summary of the epic environmental plan to reverse global warming–Drawdown.
Episode 18 is 70 minutes long and includes an intro, the performance by Shecky Infanté (starts at 1:30), a staccato look at Drawdown, “the most comprehensive plan ever proposed to reverse global warming” (starts at 5:50), as well as the interview with Fog Eater Café founders, Haley Samas Berry, Erica Schneider and Nathan Maxwell Cann (starts at 18:32).
