Episode 23 – Bill Stoneham

SnapSessions! presents Episode 23, featuring an interview with artist Bill Stoneham, as well as articles “The Doomsday Machine” and “A Tribute to Satirist Stan Freberg”.

Bill Stoneham talks about his days as a young artist in Southern California, his early ventures into selling his paintings on the gallery scene while resisting the War in Vietnam, his work in building monsters and special effects in films like Enemy Mine, The Fly, and Star Wars movies, his many years making backgrounds and surreal sets on video games for ILM and other game companies, and the internet world’s obsession with his “spooky” painting “The Hands Resist Him”. Stoneham is a life-long artist; good-natured, funny, and irreverent.

Episode 23 is 86 minutes long and includes an intro, a critical look at the Cold War’s Atomic Age and flirtation with Armageddon in “The Doomsday Machine” (starts at 1:05 seconds), a tribute to 1950s to 1970s satirist “Stan Freberg” (starts at 15:45), as well as our interview with artist, Bill Stoneham (starts at 31:14).
